Instructions for quickly creating a gradient palette using the 'Create a transition’ tool

1. Draw two shapes in the new canvas and fill them with the colors you want.

2. Enter the options by clicking Object -> Create a transition -> Transition options or by pressing W on your keyboard and clicking on the workspace.

3. Set the option to Specific number of passes and type a number corresponding to the amount of colors in the palette you want minus the 2 you already have, click OK..

4. To create a transition according to the options set, select both shapes and click Object -> Create a transition -> Create. You can achieve the same effect by pressing Alt + Ctrl + B on the keyboard when the shapes are selected or by selecting the Create a transition tool by clicking first on one shape, and then on the other shape when they are not selected.

5. The transition that has been created is not an object yet, and the effect to change it you have to expand the shape by clicking on Object -> Create transition -> Expand.

6. Add colors to your document by opening Swatches and clicking New Color Group. If you don’t have the Swatches window open, click Window -> Swatches.

7. Enter a name for your palette and make sure Convert Basic to General is selected. This will make it easier for you to manage your document colors later in the design stage. Click OK.

8. Your palette is ready, enjoy your design!
